Sydney wedding photographer, the best of my 2012

Another year finished and it was just wonderful for me as a wedding photographer. Many things have happened, many stories and lots of pictures and that ‘s why I’m here to share it all with you.

The year began in a bad way, it was January and my difficult choice to leave the WPJA Wedding photojpurnalist Association has certainly left a mark on my mood. But then came the good news: Junebug Weddings decided to choose me among the many Italian photographers by adding me to its prestigious and exclusive list  and this has filled my heart with joy and pride. Some of my photographs have been selected and awarded ; the wedding in Marche of Luca and Natascia was published amongst the more significant real weddings.

I photographed weddings here in Sydney becoming a real destination wedding photographer;  from Jenny & Scott to Claudia & David and many others that I have not had time to post on my site. July arrived as did the beautiful exhibition at Spazio Oberdan, ‘Scene da matrimonio’,  my first solo show and one of the few in Italy entirely devoted to wedding photojournalism. I shot the 2013 collection of Rita Couture, a company that produces wedding dresses that I particularly love, a beautiful day where I had the freedom to express myself as a photographer.

I worked as a wedding photographer on Lake Garda, Lake Como, Salento, the Marche… then August arrived with my marriage, the one in which I was the hero with my wonderful better half’ Orly.

In September I returned to Australia and started working on my new site, the new section of my favorite weddings and opening a small shop with some fine art prints of the photos that have excited me more. I ended the year preparing my first workshop on wedding photography, the WW2013.

There are many people I would like to thank, firstly to the couples who have decided to choose me as their wedding photographer, and those who have already’ made their choice for 2013, (this year I will travel again to Italy, around Australia and also to London) without them none of this would be even thinkable. A very special thank you to everyone and now some pictures:)

Even as I write this post came the good news of an Honorable Mention for a photo of mine at Junebug’s Best of the Best 2012.

 

Un altro anno e’ terminato ed e’ stato semplicemente meraviglioso per me come fotografo di matrimonio. Tante cose sono successe, molte storie e molte fotografie ed e’ per questo che sono qui per condividere il tutto con voi.

L’anno e’ iniziato in modo triste, era gennaio e la mia scelta di abbandonare la WPJA – wedding photojournalistic association – ha di sicuro lasciato un segno nella mia personalita’. Ma poi sono arrivate le belle notizie: Junebug weddings ha deciso di scegliermi tra i tanti fotografi italiani inserendomi nella sua prestigiosa e limitatissima lista e questo mi ha riempito il cuore di gioia ed orgoglio. Alcune delle mie fotografie sono state scelte e premiate e anche il matrimonio nelle marche di Luca e Natascia e’ stato pubblicato tra i real wedding piu’ significativi.

Ho fotografato dei matrimoni qui a Sydney diventando un vero destination wedding photographer, quello di Jenny e Scott, quello di Claudia e David e molti altri altri che non ho ancora avuto il tempo di pubblicare sul mio sito. E’ arrivato poi luglio e la bellissima mostra allo spazio Oberdan scene da matrimonio, sulla fotografia di matrimonio, la mia prima mostra personale ed una delle poche interamente dedicate al fotogiornalismo di matrimonio. Ho realizzato gli scatti per la collezione 2013 di Rita couture, un azienda di abiti da sposa che adoro particolarmente, una giornata bellissima in cui ho avuto la liberta’ di potermi esprimere come fotografo.

Ho lavorato come fotografo di matrimonio sul lago di Garda, lago di Como, il Salento, le Marche, e poi e’ arrivato agosto col mio matrimonio, quello in cui ero il protagonista insieme alla mia meravigliosa dolce meta’ Orly.

A settembre sono ritornato in Australia e ho iniziato a lavorare al mio nuovo sito, alla nuova sezione dei miei matrimoni preferiti e all’apertura di un piccolo negozio online con alcune stampe fine art delle foto che piu’ mi emozionano. Ho concluso l’anno preparando il mio primo workshop sulla fotografia di matrimonio, il WW2013.

Sono tante le persone che vorrei ringraziare ed il grazie piu’ sentito va come sempre alle coppie che hanno deciso di scegliermi come loro fotografo di matrimonio, e a quelle che hanno gia’ fatto la loro scelta per il 2013, quest’anno viaggero’ ancora in Italia, qui in Australia e anche a Londra, senza di loro niente di tutto questo sarebbe minimamente pensabile. Un grazie speciale davvero a tutti e adesso qualche fotografia:)

Fotografo matrimonio Marche

Telling the story of Natascia, our meetings, our endless mail a flight purchased few days before the wedding, the return trip in the rain and in the queue on the motorway,  having photographed their wedding after only four days from my “eternal yes” I would probably need an entire post on this blog. Natascia is really a constant ferment, in love with life and beautiful things, able to take care of every single detail even just few minutes before the marriage having Charlie Parker in the background and without losing her smile. Luca is her ideal husband, he completes her and will let you appreciate all the hidden side of the couple that only true connoisseurs can discover. Weather was crazy all day long which is why I chose the photo of the rainbow to open this post. Here’s what  Natascia and Luca are, a beautiful rainbow that suddenly comes into your life that sometimes is gray or maybe just covered with clouds. I really believe this vintage shabby chic wedding perfectly reflect what they are. Try to spend three days with them and you’ll find out how many colors they have and how much light!

Per raccontare la storia di Natascia, dei nostri incontri, delle nostre infinite mail, dei biglietti aerei comprati pochi giorni prima del matrimonio, del viaggio di ritorno insieme sotto la pioggia ed in coda in autostrada, dell’aver fotografato il loro matrimonio a soli quattro giorni dal mio occorrerebbe forse un post intero. Natascia è davvero un continuo fermento, innamorata della vita e delle cose belle, capace di curare tutto nel singolo dettaglio anche a pochi minuti dal matrimonio avendo Charlie Parker come sottofondo e senza perdere mai il sorriso. Luca è il suo compagno ideale, la completa interamente facendo apprezzare della coppia tutti quei lati che solo i veri intenditori possono apprezzare. Il tempo è stato ballerino tutto il giorno è per questo ho scelto la foto dell’arcobaleno per aprire questo racconto. Ecco cosa sono Natascia e Luca, un bell’arcobaleno che all’improvviso arriva nella tua vita, a volte grigia o forse solo con qualche nuvola. Questo matrimonio vintage shabby chic dimostra esttamente questo. Provate a passare tre giorni con loro e scoprirete quanti colori e quanta luce possiedono!

I preparativi di Natascia si sono svolti a casa della mamma nel paese di Colombarone a pochi chilometri da Pesaro, appendere l’abito Ralph Lauren al balcone è stato davvero uno dei momenti più delicati dell’intera giornata, ma alla fine…

Arriva la sposa in chiesa con la sua 500 blu, il fratello Yuri l’accompagna all’altare e Luca visibilmente teso può finalmente lasciarsi andare con un bel sorriso dopo aver visto la sua futura moglie

Dopo lo scambio degli anelli tutti i quattro testimoni, Yuri, Sonia, Laura e Fabio felici applaudono le mani. Al termine della cerimonia c’è il tempo per un bel bacio, il primo come marito e moglie e si esce dalla chiesa, pronti per essere “accarezzati” dal riso.

Durante l’intera sessione di ritratti alla coppia Luca si è rivelato un ottimo modello, è stato divertente sebbene il tempo a volte piovoso ci abbia lasciato pochi minuti di tregua al mare. Giusto il tempo per qualche foto e per osservare l’arcolbaleno

During the session Luca was a great model, everything was ok and we had a lot of fun. Weather was not the best but he left us few minutes for some shots on the beach and, of course, the beautiful rainbow

La location era incantevole, il Symposium quattro stagioni a Cartoceto, stelle Michelin e tanto tanto buon cibo e ottimo vino. Tutte le decorazioni invece sono state curate da Stile Libero veri e propri artisti, non capita spessissimo di vedere ottime decorazioni, quando capita…

Un matrimonio bellissimo nelle Marche, non avevo mai fotografato in questa splendida regione e ne sono rimasto folgorato! Luca e Natascia sono stati deliziosi e davvero molto accoglienti con me. Avevo lasciato la mia nuova moglie da quattro giorni e durante il viaggio in aereo non sapevo se la scelta fatta fosse stata la migliore, abbandonare tutto, il mio matrimonio per venire tra queste colline… Riguardando questa piccola selezione, rivedendo i sorrisi e la gioia degli invitati penso sia stata la cosa migliore che potessi e dovessi fare. Grazie Natascia e Luca!

A beautiful wedding in the Marche, I had never photographed in this beautiful region and I was stunned! Luca and Natascia were delicious and very welcoming with me. I left my new wife after four days after our wedding and during air travel I couldn’t stop thinking if the choice done was the best, give up everything for another wedding between these hills … After having looked at this small selection, reviewing the smiles and joy of guests I think it was the best thing that I could and should do. Thanks Natascia and Luca!

Junebug weddings

The other night I was with my closest friends, we were drinking some good red wine talking about internet and how sms and emails affect our lives more than ever. Just as we were talking I heard a sound on my Ipad, the notification of a new message. I pressed the blue dot and unbelieving I started to read and read again, my friends pointed out that for a few minutes I was gone, I was not with them that I did not even ear that they were calling me. I continued to read without stopping the beginning of the mail, It looked amazing, something totally unexpected. The letter came from Seattle in the United States and It was written by Blair deLaubenfels the co-founder of Junebug weddings. It was 11:52 p.m. May the 22nd:

Hello Daniele,

I hope this letter finds you well and thriving! I am writing today to invite you to join the Junebug network. Your work is truly extraordinary, and we would be honored to welcome you to our exclusive network …We have the distinct pleasure of promoting the most prestigious and talented group of wedding photographers found anywhere, including Jerry Ghionis, Yervant, Elizabeth Messina, JoAnne Dunn, Francesco DeTito, Ben Chrisman, Bob and Dawn Davis, Roberto Valenzula, Vinicius Matos, Apertura, and dozens of other leading artists… We chose your work by searching through dozens and dozens of Italian photographers and yours stood out above the crowd…

Me? Junebug weddings? My name close to Ben Chrisman, Yervant, Jonas Peterson and Apertura? My myths, the best wedding artists on the planet and my name with theirs? I thought at first it was some joke or a network error. I could not believe it, I read over and over again, it was all true. I quickly explained to my friends what Junebug is and what an honor for me to have been chosen to be represented by them. We filled the glasses with good Pampero Rum, and we toasted! I can’t remember how many shots I had but I was super happy, one of the best news I could have received from a professional point of view.

Through this blog I want to thank all those who have always believed in me, who help me every day, those who read this site / blog and to all the couples that in these years have given me confidence allowing me the joy of photographing their weddings.

L’altra sera ero a casa dei miei amici più cari, si parlava di internet  e si beveva del buon vino parlando di come i messaggini e le mail influenzino più che mai le nostre vite. Proprio mentre parlavamo ho sentito un suono sul mio Ipad, la notifica di un nuovo messaggio. Ho schiacciato vicino a quel puntino blu e incredulo ho iniziato a leggere e rileggere, i mei amici mi hanno fatto notare che per pochi minuti ero sparito, non ero più con loro non sentivo che mi stavano chiamando. Io continuavo a leggere senza mai smettere l’inizio di quella mail, mi sembrava incredibile, qualcosa di assolutamente inaspettato.  Arrivava da Seattle negli Stati Uniti era scritta da Blair deLaubenfels la cofondatrice di Junebug weddings, erano le 23.52 del 22 maggio:

Io? Junebug weddings? Il mio nome vicino a quello di Ben Chrisman, Yervant, Jonas Peterson e Apertura? I miei miti, dei veri e propri geni/artisti della fotografia di matrimonio. Io con loro? Ho creduto da principio che fosse qualche bufala, uno scherzo della rete oppure un errore. Non potevo crederci, ho letto e riletto ancora, era tutto vero. Ho velocemente spiegato ai miei amici cosa fosse Junebug e quale onore rappresentasse per me essere stato scelto per essere da loro rappresentato. Abbiamo riempito i bicchieri con del buon Rum Pampero e abbiamo brindato!!! Non ricordo quanti ne abbia bevuti ma ero felice ed incredulo. E’ una delle notizie più belle che potessi ricevere lavorativamente parlando.

Voglio ringraziare attraverso questo blog tutti quelli che hanno sempre creduto in me, chi ogni giorno mi aiuta, chi continua a leggere questo sito/blog e voi sposi che in tutti questi anni mi avete dato fiducia concedendomi la gioia di fotografare i vostri matrimoni.

Grazie e come dicevano i latini… ad maiora!
